Interwar houses on old estates. Gordon Park was first sold as a housing estate in 1890, but most of its homes went up between the wars, after many blocks were auctioned in the 1920s. Sewer lines of that age can have worn joints where roots get in and waste catches.
Kedron Brook on two sides. The suburb is bordered by Kedron Brook to the south and east, and the brook flooded during the 2022 Brisbane floods. In heavy rain, stormwater drains on lower ground near the brook can be slow to clear, and pits and pipes that are already part-blocked overflow first.

My interwar house has a slow sewer. What’s likely causing it?

Should I try drain cleaner first?
Not on a full blockage. Caustic cleaners won’t shift roots or wipes and can splash back. Stop using the affected fixtures and call us instead.
